This post grabbed me by the collar, shook me, and said "Listen here!" I have this journal that I spent a good deal of money on. Entirely leather, beautiful un-lined pages with a leather cord that wraps around it to close it. I was in love with this journal the moment I saw it. With all that being said, I've been the proud owner of it for months now and haven't put the first mark in it yet. Why do you ask? It's so lovely, fresh and new.. And I felt, whatever I write in this journal needs to be good. Better than good, even. I can't tell you the number of times I have picked this journal up only to put it back down for fear my words weren't good enough for the beautiful pages. Today I read this Joan Didion quote and watched a snippet of the documentary her nephew is creating, and I decided it was time. I thought it very fitting to begin writing in my new lovely, precious journal with her quote about bankrupt days. Goodness knows I have plenty of those. At any rate, this was the little push I needed today, and for that I am thankful. Wherever you are and in whatever you may be doing, have the courage to see it all the way through until the end. You may surprise yourself.    KT
