Another season over

The ski hill closed up a couple of weeks ago bringing an end to another fun season (my third now) here in Fernie. The final day capped it all off with the Coca Cola slope soaker, involving 80 game souls ready to skim or splash into a pool of water at the base of the ski hill. 308 more words

Spring into skiing: Late March and April is prime time in the Rockies

Spring skiers. They stand out, tanned face with beer can size, oddly shaped, white circles around their eyes, with a big smile spanning their cheeks. Young woman from De Winton identified as snowboarder killed at Fernie

A young woman from De Winton has been identified as the victim of a snowboarding fatality in Fernie on Sunday.

Alexa Marie Britt Hugh, 20, was snowboarding with a companion at Fernie Alpine Resort when they entered a permanently closed area above Lizard Bowl that was described as “particularly rugged” in a news release from the B.C. 62 more words
