A little chevron striped halter dress from the Manhattan Vintage Show.  This looked like silk shantung -crisp, sheen, with the horizontal slubs – but Sandra Skeffington, proprietress, said it was linen, making it even more lovely.   60 more words

The Manhattan Vintage troupe showed up at Metropolitan Pavilion for their springtime show.  Since it’s vintage, nothing is ever strictly by-the-season, for many reasons.  If you love vintage fashion, you’ll understand and if you don’t, imagine a cross between a baseball card show + Comic-Con, held in a walk-in closet. 90 more words

The dressmaking bug

It seems the dressmaking bug I caught in January is still hanging around – and believe me that’s a good thing! Here’s my latest frock, based on a 1952 wiggle dress pattern… It took quite a bit of resizing the vintage pattern for my narrow back, but I got there in the end!


I've been manipulated, and I like it!
