I’ve been mulling this idea of connecting foreigners who want to learn the local language of their new home with elderly people who need more company over in my head for years, and now that my daughter has started going to school and I have some free time I have no more excuses not to a) actually go out and do it for myself as a British person living in Brussels who lacks confidence in speaking French and hasn’t found that formal lessons help get over this hurdle and b) encourage others to do the same because I think it’s a good idea and would help to break down inter-generational and cross-cultural divides and would strengthen community bonds . 341 more words
