The Centre for Contemporary Art, Lagos through its new publishing initiative is producing an ambitious monograph on the Nigerian photographer J. D. ‘Okhai Ojeikere (1930-2014). The book will feature a selection of more than 200 photographs from the artist’s extensive archive. 124 more words

A Small Step for Finn

Recently, I saw the photo exhibition Hairstyles and Headdresses with photos by J.D. Okhai Ojeikere, a Nigerian photographer who has documented hairstyles in Nigeria. I’m glad those hairstyles are not part of my “beauty regime,” not that my thin, silky hair could ever be prevailed upon to fix into such elaborate creations. 314 more words
