The Role of the Alternate Juror - July 6, 2011

Due to the length of the upcoming trial, the judge informed us that they would be seeking 16 jurors—12 jurors and 4 alternates.  Alternates are selected in order to protect the integrity of a trial should one of the original 12 jurors be unable to sit through the duration of the trial for whatever reason (illness, death in the family, things like that).  584 more words
