Thanks to all the advisers, students and presenters that participated in the first ever Loyola/JEA Louisiana State Conference. We had nearly 150 participants. A great case of a 50yo woman who presented to the ED with a chief complaint of “…”  She was brought in by family because she had stopped moving and talking for the past week or so, and she had stopped taking PO – both medications and food/drink – which raised obvious concerns. 426 more words

An interesting case today of a gentleman with poorly controlled HIV who presented to the ED with 10 days of fevers, chills, SOB, and cough. He has had HIV for some years and was on a HAART regiment with presumed adherence to his medications, though his CD4 count 1 year ago was 150, and he was also on bactrim DS 3 x weekly for prophylaxis.   233 more words
