The Rimutaka Rail Trail..not just any rail trail

  1. The guide we have to New Zealand rates this ride at a strong 4 out of 4. There was a short single track in and then you climb up one of the steeper inclines a rail trail has been known to climb – using Fell Locomotives to cling to the rail as they ascend…pretty cool stuff for some budding engineers….It took us all day to wind up, over and around some cool off shoots hiding heaps of bee hives (these kiwis love their honey)!

Flower Power Naping

I was wondering through my garden the other day and I happened upon  Bombus terrestris also known as Two banded/buff tail Bumble bee taking a nap on this flower, not even bothered at all by the buzzing of other bees going about their business, was there for quite awhile totally relaxed, I felt quite privileged to have witnessed this I Just love bees.
