This evening I finished reading Jane’s Island by Marjorie Hill Allee.

Jane’s Island was a Newbery runner-up in 1932. This was a wonderful story about a young woman named Ellen who spent a summer in Woods Hole, Massachusetts taking care of Jane who is the daughter of a marine biologist. 248 more words

This evening I finished reading Downright Dencey by Caroline Dale Snedeker.

Downright Dencey was a Newbery runner-up in 1928. I really enjoyed reading the book as it is set in the Quaker community of Nantucket Island shortly after the War of 1812. 243 more words
