March MFA Thesis Exhibitons of Paul Richey and Martin Benson

We are extremely pleased to announce two concurrent, solo thesis exhibitions in the month of March at the UNO-St. Claude Gallery. Sculptures and drawings in “Awkward Silence,” by Paul Richey, “create a level of uncertainty that is amplified by physical tension and…treatment of material.” Richey uses wood, concrete, paint, and metal to make works that he says are “caught in the unending search for a clear note in the silence.” Paintings, drawings, and sculpture in “Beginner’s Mind” by Martin Benson distill the artist’s “personal relationship to spirituality, digital culture, and the practices and side-effects therein, into a simplified visual language expressed through shape, line, color, and light.” Benson says, “The work evokes a direct interaction with what has become one of our most vulnerable human faculties, our attention.” 55 more words
