Comfort foods, to my generation, are the foods we ate while growing up, prepared with love, as only mom or grandma could. These were not fancy foods with pretentious ingredients, but rather a frugal fare made from less expensive cuts of meat, home-grown and home-canned fruits and vegetables, fresh dairy products and locally produced eggs.
