Trail Review: Gitchi-Gami Trail (Gooseberry to Split Rock)

The Gitch-Gami State Trail is a paved trail with segments scattered along the North Shore. Its intended route, when finished, will run from Two Harbors to Grand Marais (89 miles, I guess), but right now it only has a few sections. 690 more words


Lighthouse Beacon Photos

While visiting Split Rock Lighthouse I took several photos of the lighthouse beacon which was rotating in the upper most area of the tower. The beacon was casting a transparent shade of phthalo green and I thought it was beautiful. 19 more words


Big Waves at Split Rock

As we finished hiking the Split Rock River Loop Trail we could see some big waves down by the lake. We drove down for a closer look and did find some big waves crashing into the shore.

Our goal for the day was Gooseberry Falls State Park but it was such a beautiful day we decided to continue on to Split Rock. I hopped to get some shots of the Lighthouse with lots of ice in the foreground but it looked like a beautiful summer day. 33 more words
